Hey!

My name is Mike and I’m excited to welcome you to the new fundraisingideas blog. We’re hoping to post some ideas and create a good back and forth communication between you and us about all things fundraising.

So….let’s get started!

I’ve spent the past couple of days watching BNN, the business news network’s “Lunch Money.” They talk about the economy and the decline of stocks. I’ve been watching with a dark sense of humour. I mean…. how bad is it gonna get……really?!

I see more importance for professional fundraising companies in the near future. Organizations and schools will have a serious need for fundraising with cuts in funding.

So you tell me, how do see the economy affecting your fundraising efforts this year? How will you be dealing with it or will you just ignore it and get to what needs to be done?

Tell me what you think?

  1. Already the city has cut funding to our baseball league. Last year we fundraised selling items from a brochure – looks like this year we may need to fundraise even more. Not sure how community may react to all these extra fundraisers…

  2. There is a simple way to produce billions of dollars of long-term funding for social causes. There is a way to harness the power of Capitalism for the Common Good that avoids government spending, taxes, stimuli, or bailouts. In the midst of the debate over which individuals should receive corporate bonuses, we should be asking companies to grant Social Bonuses that will benefit the public interest. Companies can donate warrants to charity – something that doesn’t cost them anything to give – and get a deferred tax deduction for the value of the gift. 3. That’s a good post Arthur. But isnt’ a “social bonus” just another word for donation? How would charities be viable for this?
